  • Matt Rider (Everything.)

Matt Trakker is the quiet side project of Matt Rider from the London based rock band Ruskin. After achieving moderate success with previous bands, Matt set about writing and recording in a very different style to anything he'd done before, and Matt Trakker (named after the main man in the 80's cartoon M.A.S.K.) was born. The resulting songs mix poppy melodies with layers, textures and an honest lyrical approach.

Band reviews

  1. jamielovelace

The most original of the bunch! Great live set with epic interludes!

  2. lowest

    Nice Sunday morning music.

  3. lizziNW8

Honest, beautiful lyrics, lovely arrangement, something for summer nights in the garden. Definately an artist for the collection.

  4. dankojones

  5. Eggface

    boring

  6. kookycool

    What Tripe!

  7. Dodo on a Stick

Hmmm Oki Dog ? You obviously dont have a musical ear. Chav maybe?

  8. Oki Dog

Man. If this guy wins I hope it's not gonna p!ss down with rain when he opens. It'll clear the field. B-O-R-I-N-G!

  9. orangeblossom

I never said ''The 'oumpf" orange blossom promised they had live was simply not delivered '' anything along those lines....this was the first concert with a band for matt (hes in a band anyway but with the matt trakker stuff) 3 weeks rehearsal i think they did really well!! so little time and to come out with top class songs like that.... i tihnk you might be missing something also dont mock what others are saying Matt Trakker all the way!!! Good luck mate!

  10. stars_in_the_dust

Its nice that Matt's friends and family are so supportive. I'm sure if i had the pleasure he would indeed be "one of the nicest blokes i've ever met!" his mother certainly must proud to have such "a great performer and a great person" for a son. But his music just didn't hold the crowds attention. Whether he's a nice person or not is simply imaterial.

I undfortunately couldnt make the concert but have seen matts stuff before and i know he is a great performer and a great person! He actually knows what he is doing and likes to experiment. The musics not like any of the others in this which is a good thing as they are looking for something different. Oh and stars in the dust ....do us all a favor and go slash your wrists if your into that sort of thing

  12. stars_in_the_dust

I found this set very dull. The 'oumpf" orange blossom promised they had live was simply not delivered. All the songs blended into one. If i was going to sit at home slashing my wrists then this would be the soundtrack of choice. Opening the v festival? I think not, unless they want all the crowd asleep.

  13. HeatherRocks

They should definitely play at V. By far the best choice.

  14. Bach Bone

Loved your set. Will keep an eye out for gigs , even if you dont get to V. Lets hope you do though.

  15. Dodo on a Stick

WOW............. absolute knock out !! love the sound from the 3 guitars. Go go go trakkers.........

  16. bagatrix

wicked set on thursday! you guys definately got me rockin! good luck and hope you win!

  17. orangeblossom

What an amazing gig! Super entertaining!! Best of the night by far!!!!! Matt Deserves to play V!!!!!!!! I think you should all agree....

  18. cal-hoon

I can only say Matt Trakker (and the thunderhawks) are the best band i've seen in my life, beats Ruskin, Stay Puff and THP by a centimetre but they are truly epical live. Being a biased fan i'm gunna opt for Matt, but honestly, watching him at the Islington Academy tonight (15th May) he is by far more than worthy to play V Festival.

  19. orangeblossom

In reply to jen123- It is completely different live as he has his band with him now when he plays...i saw him play his first proper concert on his own and that was very entertaining and everyone loved it. you have only heard one song and he has many more ...as i said completely different live. but your aloud your opinions :)

  20. jen123

This is weird. Definatley not offensive, probably good to listen to when chilling out but, V Festival? not got enough "oumph" for me but good luck
